Why is it that some people are so swift to play the victim card?
Just look at history, the world it has created… Look at the distribution of wealth, statistics of people who die in police custody… Look at the tactics espoused by William Lynch in 1712, which discussed maintaining hegemonic control over slaves by dividing and ruling them… Look at the role of the media in doing that today, not only against people for the colour of their skin, but also for their socio-economic grouping, religious and political affiliations, family arrangements, nationality and sexual and/or gender identity… Who tends to control the media, big businesses, laws and institutions? Mostly white, middle class men.
Maybe in some ways, Abbot was over-simplifying things, but at the end of the day she has a point.

This guy was playin’ with Sound of Rum and Billy Bragg for the Leftfield in Motion tour this November. The tour was set up to inspire younger people, following the summer riots. Seems like a decent fella.
